In all honesty, that is a better excuse for a motivation to be a hero than most JRPGs.

In ROTJ, it is made clear that some kid with no medical training believes that Vader, when he is in a weakened and beaten state, unable to move on his own and already on death's door, will die without his mask on. Yeah, probably true.
I loved the start of the story, where everything felt so desperate and dark. But the time travel stuff ultimately felt like Bendis was chasing his own tail.
