Yeah, still not okay, but I definitely read it more as “she was a crazy bitch” and not “this hideous monster!”
I do wonder if he was referring to her as “ugly” because she was mean and a bridezilla and not necessarily talking about her physical appearance.
i was driving by a masonic temple or whatever and turned around to go check it out. i parked my car in the garage and looked around. i couldn’t look in because there were no windows. the front doors were glass though but it was just an empty lobby. end of story.

That’s what I found interesting. I was ready for the whole thing to be SUPER PROBLEMATIC, but then she actually gets into that minefield.
I saw this film at a festival and it was fantastic but some of it was problematic. I’m also kind of uneasy with the fact that a straight white man wrote and directed a movie about “sassy, troubled” black trans women, one who was in prison. Maybe that’s not fair of me, but it did make me uneasy.
OK so in related trans news (not really a thing), I found this article in nymag very very interesting
It doesn’t seem like it’s without misogyny. They stalk and assault the other woman who her boyfriend is two-timing with, not her boyfriend? (Doing that isn’t even revenge...)
