Anecdotes do not equal data. Just because nobody I knew grew up with died from a head injury while riding a bike doesn't mean that people don't. Where you are riding your bike makes a big difference—not all neighborhoods are made equal, and a helmet can make the difference between a minor accident and a grievous one.
