They used to have a solid green light on the left turn lane to indicate you could turn left, that changed to a flashing yellow arrow.

I’ve had 5 now, and 4 of them have been very reliable (1 with over 300k miles and another with around 220k before I sold them - two current ones have around 160k.) The one bad one was the e38, which when it ran was great, but it had constant suspension problems (front end death wobble even with new front end parts and…
As to the left turn arrow, in many places without it, you won’t ever be able to make a left turn. The key is to have it change to a green light (or flashing yellow arrow in my state) so you have the option to turn left if traffic clears out, rather than only allowing left turns on a green arrow. They have done this…
Millions of people managed to get by in Escorts/J-Body GMs/Omnis.
By definition, you can’t be upside down in a vehicle that’s paid off.
We need a massive overhaul of advertising laws in this country. We’re being lied to at every turn. Every major business leaves out important prices that everyone gets charged or includes quantity discounts that everyone may not qualify for. Delivery, cable, phone, car rentals, hotels, job listings, the list goes on…
You are correct about it being bumper (somehow I read fender) but I’ll still take a stock MC over this monstrosity.
You mean the Gen III Nav that you can brick by unplugging the nav computer at the wrong time? It’s the worst of all the BMW Nav systems. I also used to own an e38, and am very familiar with the Nav systems. (I upgraded mine from a Gen 2 to a Gen 4, added in a widescreen dash display, added a video module so I could…
My 1st gen X3 was built in Austria by Magna Steyr. I like my foreign cars built in the foreign land they hail from, by foreigners (Austria is close enough to Germany for me.) Every one of my worst examples of a foreign car has been built here in the US.
I have a 1st Gen X3, built in Austria by Magna Steyr.
I’d say docked costs?
The front fenders DON’T look better than the originals. A 75 MC was my first car.
I’d shy away from the X5 as it’s built in SC, not Germany. I’d also shy away from a V8 BMW, I had an e38 and it was the most unreliable BMW I’ve owned. I’d say get a nice e39 with the straight-6 - the best motor BMW makes. Also, on the e39 it’s easier to upgrade the radio and nav technology to something that works 20…
Yes it is.
It’s a comfortable highway cruiser, and it only seems low on power compared to modern cars, it has plenty to move itself around. The nicest thing I encountered when I owned my 300E was on the highway people just moved out of your way if you barreling along in the fast lane.
This year is also susceptible to wiring problems related to the insulation, and having owned the sedan version of this car, I’d like to say it’s particularly difficult to work on for the DIY person. It’s also has several very expensive fixes, including evap core leaks which entail removing most of the dash.
Damn you. I missed out on 2 manual X3s when I was looking for mine (one by hours) and missed another (automatic) with the terracotta interior because the selling dealer didn’t respond promptly to my e-mails. So now I have a automatic 3.0 with the bi-xenons and panoramic sunroof. I put in a set of X5 seats, though (I…
You know, I really don’t care that much about the veteran who isn’t there. If they need a special spot - you know, they are disabled, then they should have a placard, and use the handicapped spot. Otherwise, I don’t think we need a prime spot sitting empty most of the time.
There is a dollar value for a lawsuit below which the services of a attorney aren’t cost effective.
Yeah, I chose an 1st gen X3 over an X5, and build location was definitely one of the reasons. I like my foreign cars built in the country of the manufacturer (Austria is close enough to Germany), any bad Japanese or German car I’ve owned was assembled in the US. Plus I wanted the straight 6, not the V8 (bad…
