“Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! Thank you.”

Magnetic detachable keyboard? Really? Apple comes out with the iPad Pro with a keyboard, and Google just copies the entire concept. I hear that Microsoft is going to ape the iPad Pro next week with their own “Pro” convertible tablet. It’s like nobody even tries to innovate anymore with Apple calling the shots on every

It depends. Is it pasteurized organic milk? If so. don’t.

Yup. This should be the default #1 and everything flows out below it. It’s only real knock is the limited focal range, but for versatility and image quality it’s the pick. It’s also hella expensive, but they didn’t ask what was the best value.

Yup - that’s what the chip does, actually - it’s a unique transaction token so that even if the transaction is sniffed anywhere in the merchant chain - from the reader to the CC server - it’s not useful in creating a fraudulent card or other transactions. Apple and Android phones do the same thing, but using internal

You’re greyed, and hopefully this reply will get some others to chime in. This was exactly my understanding - unpasteurized milk sours, but the 99.99% of milk sold in the US (perhaps 100% of the legally sold milk, I’m not sure where the line is drawn) is pasteurized, which means that the milk does not sour, but rather

Ha - happens all the time now on my devices since I put PiHole on my network. The standard lists include a crazy number of TLDs that are pretty common use even if looking to block ad content. Not too surprised that the iOS version has fallen pray to (potentially) overzealous adblocking.

Applepay is (essentially) chip security with a physical token (your phone) instead of a PIN. It’s less secure than the separate card and pin only in that the phone is both the card and the token, but only trivally so since the phone should be locked with a PIN.

Microwaving the entire thing is the most energy efficient solution, short of an electric kettle. If you have an induction stove, it will be close. (note that this doesn’t account for the fossil fuel -> electricity conversion or the variance in fuel costs). I was going to go from memory, but I decided to google:

The answer is nearly every major retailer. They all have UPSs and generator backups and at least a couple days of fuel to run them. (Yes, I design buildings for a living). If you are merely stranded in civilization, and you have a good card - and the Amex Platinum would count - and you are robbed, they will first-AM

That assumes a static tax law. If taxes go up, you win*; if they go down, you lose. And for many “in the middle” your marginal tax rate is likely to stay the same.

You may want to consider panelizing your backsplash before installing it, both for simplicity and for cleanability.

This is kind of like working from home (which I do now). By losing the commute, the need to pre-prepare a mid-day meal, and the worry of leaving something at home, I get to buy back 1-2 hours over a typical commuter.

Forewarning: I don’t think this is a wise procedure to use on you wife.

A compact hand-crank charger and a compact HT (even a cheap one like the Baofeng) is a better combo. Has weather bands plus 70cm and 2m transmit bands and an LED light. In an emergency, there is no restriction on using Amateur bands for rescue. (still prob won’t fit in the small bag)

Actually, we were no more than 1%-2% shy of the S&P unmanged funds; and we’re fairly heavily into stocks (via ETFs). And there was little “estimating” involved - we know each other outside of the brokerage, and we explicitly told him we wanted downside protection. We probably won’t catch all the next upswing as we’re

This my wife’s emergency kit:

I don’t have the time to manage my investments, nor do I find it an exciting hobby (any more). I’d feel bad about using ML as my broker, but since the fall of the market last summer, I’m down only half of the market change. That’s twice as good as I did the last time when I was watching things myself. *shrug* My

Yup - pretty much.

It’s actually funny - ours enjoys the recognition of accomplishment more than the spoils. She’ll bust ass to do a good job to “win” some trinket or other - candy, toy, ribbon, money - but will often never actually eat/play with/look at/spend the prize. It’s the recognition that counts.
