No, some people are actually insensitive assholes. :)

I hope you're not still in that relationship. You're not doing yourself the kindness you deserve there.
Totally agree with this. Keeping up a lie eventually catches up with you. Being honest leaves you the freedom to actually enjoy yourself and your relationship.
No no no - it sounds like this guy is being honest, and you should listen to that. What is the old Maya Angelou quote? "When someone tells you who they are - believe them."
I actually don't think being honest is often the problem (well, sometimes it is a problem, if not done with enough care). In my opinion, the problem mostly arises in how people react to hearing an honest comment.
But that only superficially answers part of the question. There are more female teachers, yes. But what is it about these female teachers that is leading them to see starting relationships with their young, impressionable male students as something appropriate?
Oh man. I have a lot of lady friends from my past who would go crazy for this sort of guy. They're smart women, but women who I think mistake certain cultural/social signifiers - veganism, bike riding, extreme liberal activism - as automatic indicators that someone is a "good person," when in fact - as this case…
Anniversary of Whitney's death is in about a week :(
Not my story but a friends' - several years ago my friend was working on some projects in the MIT Media Lab, and one day BJORK walked through her office on some sort of tour she was getting of the school for some reason.
Is this gif from one of those Asperger's tests where you have to identify the emotion causing the person's expression? Love it.
Is it weird that I find it completely annoying that he tossed the tampon in the toilet? Everyone knows you're not supposed to do that.
An incident happened in Boston that got absolutely no coverage in the mainstream press - just after New Years, a Boston cop beat an Uber driver, spewing a host of racial epithets during the event. Uber may have issues as a company, but I've used the service a number of times safely, and you have to remember - under…
I went to school on the Main Line. I'm not from that area though. Whoa.
Ugh. So sorry about that to have to go through with one of your own parents :(
I kind of know what she's talking about. I'm a single lady, and sometimes I'll meet a nice, attractive guy who has a girlfriend and I'll think of it as a relief, because 1) he's told me this which means he's being up front about it and not trying to hide something or do something shady behind the girlfriends back and…
Bless his heart. And - I agree!
The shittiest thing about NPD is that it is a repetitive disorder - people who develop NPD (from what I've heard) have endured some sort of abuse or dysfunction at some point in their own life and personal development, which they end up taking out on others when they get older, becoming the abusers themselves through…
This post feels like therapy for me, and it's heartening to see others talk about similar experiences to mine over the past couple of years. For some reason, I think I attract narcissistic friends - I'm not sure why that is. But over the past few years, the behavior of several (female) friends of mine has gotten so…
I hate to say this, but to be fair, the woman explains at the very start of her letter that she settled down with the guy after a bad experience with a man scared her, and she tried a lot of different things (dating a woman), until she settled down with Gentle Dude. This is not an uncommon issue — i've kind of been…
Ha! Yeah. But you know if he was like, a little pudgy or something, she'd be complaining about that too. Some people only know how to complain, even when they have it relatively good.
