I loved my Chevette. So, a few years ago I bought a first gen. one and restored it. It was a fun experience and the person I sold it to loved it, too. They were good, cheap cars. So basic, there was hardly anything to go wrong which was deliberate since Chevy’s previous cheap car was the Vega. The early ones are also

I know these things were fine performance-wise, but damn were they ugly. I think I’d rather have a smog equipment choked late 70's Trans Am with the like 150 horsepower V8. (Those were really the worst “muscle” cars, but hey, they looked fantastic.)

I loved my C30. It was a really fun car. The 480ES is not, unfortunately, that exciting to drive. But, it sure is charming.

Same wacky suspension, though.

Nope

Transport costs were about equal to what I paid for the car. Until I shipped it to California from the east coast. I know of one other LNA here, but no 104's interestingly. Maybe that’ll be my next import.

That’s how you get it to blow on your feet.

What’s a strange idea? Importing an LNA? I figured no one else would and I like those cars. I brought it over around two years ago.

I am one of two LNA owners in America and can confirm one lever is for hot and not hot and the other is the vent lever.

I never buy cars as an investment. I wanted to use it.

I’m thinking something like an old supercharged Bentley. Wind in your hair, smooth tarmac with no sharp curves. Perfect for something old and quick.

Man, I almost bought one of these for like 5 grand 15 years ago as a daily driver and I backed out at the last minute and this is making me realize what a dummy I was. There are few cars this gloriously ridiculous.

Fiat picked a nice purple for the Panda a few years ago. We need more purple cars.

Yes. This. I’ve always wanted a purple Gremlin.

Wow, that’s awesome. Kudos for preserving them. I might ask the owner of this beige Kammback if he wants to sell. It needs some love.

One way dealerships are convenient. Not only can you test drive one car, you can test drive multiple cars and compare them.

I had a Reliant K and that was a great car for what it was. Nothing could kill it. Not even being t-boned by a Corolla. And the seats were absolutely comfy considering it was an early 80's cheap American car.

I came across a Spirit Kammback aka “Sedan” the other day. The other post-Gremlin Gremlin. The Gremlin Brougham I call it.

They were great cars. They were so basic, there was nothing to go wrong. The biggest issue was that they were supposed to be an economy car and, while they were cheap to buy, they had a relatively thirsty 6 cylinder powering them.

Considering how long these things stay in service, I don’t see why they would want a majority ICE powered fleet. By the time they’re halfway through their lifespan, there’s gong to be a good percentage of passenger cars powered by electrons.
