One thing that SSB 3DS has made really clear to me is that character customization is fun and that I want more and deeper character customization in the future.

IMO it really depends on the nature of the game. A fast moving action or platforming game can be kind of painful at 30 fps and switching between 30 fps and 60 fps in Mario Kart 8 (IE going from 2 to 3 players and/or back) is incredibly jarring and takes some getting used to. Meanwhile in a game with less rapid

To be fair, maintaining a good steady frame rate has a significant impact on gameplay.

Avoiding debates and not expending the effort to get the most out of each platform at the same time, it's win win!

I prefer grate-gate - the controversy over what happened to my legendary bauxite grate in Dwarf Fortress (hint: it ends with everyone in the fortress dying) or pate-gate - the controversy over why Pate never kicked you down a hole in Dark Souls 2 in spite of being an obvious reference to Patches.

What a difference twenty years makes...

IMO the next F-Zero (if that's ever a thing) game needs to have Ganondorf as a racer.

Eh, I classify spindash and drift and shit differently from rolling. I suppose to be fair he still does rolling animations a lot, but he does that when jumping, so... yeah.

Hah, it opened with "Let's roll"

On one hand, Mars is less massive than Earth and has quite a bit less gravity, so getting off of Mars would require less fuel than getting off of Earth.

To be fair, the Mars trip is one way while the car will last a while. On the other hand...

The problem isn't that it was completely devoid of value or even that it was primarily a platform game. Like I said, during boss fights it was actually quite good. The problem was how much of it was vacuous filler platforming with uninteresting locations and less interesting things to interact with.

I found it to be literally a chore to play through. Abysmal is sugar-coating it.

I'm aware that it isn't mean to replace it. It's a short multiplayer mode after all (only you can use coms instead of players as well), the idea that it would replace a long drawn out single player/coop experience is just silly.

Due to size limitations they could only pick 2 songs per stage it seems. They already said the Wii U version will be more like SSBB in this regard with lots of songs per stage that you can mess with the frequency on.

Way more disappointing is the Smash Run mode, which Nintendo has been touting as the 3DS game's big exclusive feature but doesn't hold a candle to, say, Brawl's Subspace Emissary single-player mode.

You keep using that word... I think it means exactly what you think it means.

So is this more or less impressive than beating Ninja Gaiden II NES without taking any damage? Because that game is a real pain in the ass.

Really the simple way to fix this kind of problem would just be to regulate in-app transactions to only allow so much money to pass through in a limited amount of time. No one has any business spending thousands, let alone tends of thousands of dollars on an online game and seeing someone attempt to do so should

Reverse engineering MMOs and their servers has been a fascinating topic to me ever since I first learned about Ragnarok Online private servers.
