I had a Saab 9-3 Sportcombi for 8 months, a 2008 model. The "improved suspension" of which you speak is terrible. Sure the car is chuckable, but the choreography is lacking. After adding a lower subframe brace steering feel was improved, but not enough to convince me to keep the car.
I've sold half a dozen Subaru WRX's over the years, and a few Foresters as a result. I loved mine passionately enough to make the case for the brand, and Subaru even repaid the favor by paying me for photographs I had taken of my car or with my car in their internal marketing materials!

@OOglebooze: Good point. I used to rag on him all the time about it, but in hindsight for all the abuse he gave it from tons of sand in the cab from his surfing, to relentless salt air exposure it never broke, barely showed any rust, and always drove the same. Trusty, like a big ole yellow lab.
