I'm really surprised there's no love for the classic Benz grilles. Any of their SL line from the 300 to the late 60's "pagoda roof" models really set the precedent for modern grille design.

Tricky one here. A new Beck Spyder with a more desirable (and powerful, and reliable...) wasser-cooled VW/Audi inline mill or Subaru boxer is around 32k. Those have 5 speeds too...

@VetteWrecker: I had no idea about the Portofino's heritage, thats rather lame. Good thing I figured the Marzal show car above the Portofino, at least that was pukka Lambo through and through.

6 speed trans ftw!

Then again, the Marzal was probably the coolest gullwinged Lambo of them all.

Cool, but the Portofino is still cooler.

This just looks so damn official.

I don't think this will be slaying any Veyrons.

Muscle car owners. Its always new cam this, 454 that. Your car may be super cool but its cramped, noisy, rattly and corners like shit. A Nova SS with 8 bajillion hp still sounds like a poorly-running Formula 382 Fas3tech, and it corners worse.

I haven't bought a Lamborghini (yet) but in 2007 I did quit an awful job with a shit company, ditched the mean ex, took a fat severance and moved to California with just my WRX wagon and everything I could fit inside.

$6500 will buy you a nice 24 year old Mercedes 300D Wagon.

@koolykool44: Haha yea. Good times. Driving while paranoid makes you a pretty sane driver. I'm sure I'm far worse off behind the wheel sober and angry than I would be stoned and happy.

@koolykool44: My 760's headliner was solid up til the day the turbo blew - with 222k miles on the odo. Well I guess the headliner was solid past that, I just wasn't driving the old warhorse any more.

I'm all for fuel economy, but I'd rather not take my chances in one of those 80s penalty box cars. If my hearing survives the constant drone and noise, then I just get one more chance to become a human pretzel when a clueless human cellphone wanders out of their lane.

I think (not sure here) that I did a 1000 mile roadtrip convoy weekend once in college, where I may have inhaled something other than Volvo fumes the entire way.

@BeanBone: no you aren't, they truly are "aforementioned expletive."

Awesome car, but too much dough for a one-off hybrid monster. It might just be I never really cared for the old-school targa look.

I didn't think it was used in service until I looked it up, but the F82 Twin Lightning was an uber oddball that never really gelled.

I also dig the Superformance Gran Sport hood. Nasty.
