i don't necessarily agree with that, I think that just enhances the lego experience. I used to use tons of things that weren't legos when I made my creations. Things from nuts and bolts, old pieces of electronics, and pieces of toys that weren't made by lego were often incorporated to make my inventions happen

This is a brilliant idea. Part of it would have to be magnetic so you could work under the car and just stick it to the frame and have it out of the way but easy to see while you're working
