The report said Kraft/Belichick were not involved/didn’t know anything. And then they took away a first round pick. That’s bananas. I can see 4 games for Brady (because it will inevitably be 2 games) but taking 2 draft picks for this makes zero sense.

They’re still gonna win the AFC East again this year, goddammit.

Actually, Drew, there’s no demonstrable evidence that Goodell is a “shit-eating moron”. At most, you could make the claim that it is “more probable than not” that he...

Counterpoint (not that I disagree with anything here): If your writing strongly appeals to readers ages 18-25, and no one older than that, that does not automatically make you a shitty writer.

Maybe Simmons is the Dane Cook of Sports-writing—all delivery, zero content.

I love this article.

Well, there goes my whole “Simmons to Deadspin” wish.

Sure, ESPN is the big fish and holds the cards on most deals of this type, but who wants to negotiate with people who would

I used to read Simmons religiously because 15 years ago he was just about the only guy doing what he does did. Pop culture, comedy and sports writing that doesn’t take itself too seriously in a single column is a great combination.

Fast forward to 15 years, and there are dozens of people (like Magary) doing it as well

Two theories on the timing:

If you read this article as anything other than sympathetic to Simmons for getting royally fucked over by ESPN, I think you’re bringing your own biases to it rather than spotting ours.

As a photographer who has spent several years on NFL sidelines, when I first read his Op-Ed I called BS. I've never seen a ball boy do anything but meander around the sidelines, usually in my way, waiting for someone to toss them a ball or to toss another ball somewhere.
