I'm limping to the finish line in Etrian Odyssey: Untold. I took a long break from it, then took it with me on the road last week, but made no progress. I'm at the end of the game, but I'm not sure if I care enough to finish it. I'll probably have to turn down the difficulty level, as grinding is no longer paying

I haven't played the new X-Com, but I reckon any similarities are just coincidence plus shared modern design sensibilities. But you did remind me that these games are often described in terms of each other- whether it's because they're special or because people struggle to grasp the concept, I'm not sure.

It's very depressing how many people reject Valkyria Chronicles because they hear "strategy RPG" and tune out. Perhaps if it were described as "turn-based combat with reaction fire"...

Trying to get in character?

Salaryman cosplay. Seems legit.

Now playing

Brave Robotics? As in the Brave mecha series?

They took DNA from history's most famous military leaders... it's just that he wound up with all the worst traits.

Promoting people past their level of competence is a diabolical plan indeed, one that has been successfully enacted at thousands of organizations.

Talk to the hand.

I agree. Remember how he lit into Blue in the original game for losing before he even had a chance to arrive? "Lemme show you how it's done, sonny," is what he should've said, right before laying down the law.

Oh Nico, can't you get anything right?

I was afraid of that. The shipper I use has switched mailing addresses from Hong Kong to some place that's probably in mainland China, and I wonder if additional scrutiny is slowing down my packages.

There is only one language quirk(?) on the internet that drives me crazy, and it is people using "defiantly" in place of "definitely". It is quite common, and if this has somehow become proper, I would like to know. Otherwise, it makes the writer looks like a little kid and ruins whatever impression they were trying

I think I'll have to take back my suggestion... as the "Super NES" and "NES" were completely different platforms, but the point still stands - "New" is completely worthless as an adjective.

Speaking of naming system, is it too late to fix this one? Super 3DS. Mega 3DS. Ultra 3DS. Anything besides "New" will suffice.

Gen 3 soundtrack was limited by the trash GBA soundcard. I found it grating; neither simple and clean like the 8-bit stuff, nor powerful enough to do some really fancy stuff. It should sound much better on the 3DS, assuming they don't come up with a sterile arrangement.

"That's right, if it has a cute anime girl as the icon, I own it"

I've stopped importing Japanese games because they're localizing enough stuff nowadays to keep me happy. We're getting games that I never would have imagined getting 10 years ago.

What's causing so much trouble for Europeans in this thread importing from Play-Asia? Tax laws? Politics? I cannot imagine a country with dumber bureaucrats than ours.

But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Little Sister.
