Pretty much nailed it. Missed one thing though: the characters are endearing. While Atelier Meruru lacks the plot twists of its predecessor, it has the most callbacks and shoutouts and is stuffed with returning characters.

I jumped on-board just from my enjoyment of Ys 7, and the bits and pieces of news about Celceta were all good. Falcom's the kind of company where if you like one of their games, you like all of them.

The first definition of Action RPG is correct. You can hack and slash and move around at your leisure. Disgaea, if I remember correctly, is a "strategy" RPG, since you're moving between tiles on a grid.
