It was a pleasure having the chance to answer so many questions and thanks to all that submitted them. I am sorry I cannot get to all of them. Again, I greatly appreciate the change to join you on Jalopnik and look forward to having you watch MotorWeek.

About 11 years ago we became interested in making cars more socially acceptable without having to compromise performance or driving enjoyment. -We decided to hang our hat on energy features that were forward looking and gave us something different for mainstream media.

M3 awesome

Yep, still test at 75-80 and yep interested.

My first car was a 1967 Ford Mustang coupe that ran on 5 of 6 cylinders until I rebuilt the head...those old Ford sixes injested stones easily. Marron with a white...wait for it...vinyl top...used of course...very...whole back in was bondo after being hit from the rear at a toll booth on I-95 near Richmond, VA.

I have had gone through some 80 jackets of all types accumulated over 30 years...yes I have kept almost all of them. But, lately I have switched more to casual sport coats...hids the belly better...but they do call me the "jacket king" around here.

It happens all the time. Most often, however, we might want the manual and the only car available is an automatic. Or some special "sport" package is missing. The reasons this happens is everyone...except maybe Consumers Report that buys their cars...gets cars from a press pool. The manufacturers put limited amount of

I love Top Gear UK because of its high entertainment value. They will be the first ones to say they want to entertain and make you laugh. It is very hard to be funny on television, at least on purpose, and they do it well with everyone that is a car nut at heart. I am no Jeremy that is for sure. We're not very funny.

Sorry...intended to say 2001 Mini Cooper...just still miss the old Miata

A boring mix.

That is our MotorWeek "back lot". It is just outside our offices. It is a small field, with a fence we erected outselves to give us a "home"...something studio based shows have but remote or location shows usually do not. It's about a half acre in size, gets mowed every week, and has the right sun angle for about 5

On one...the old Focus RS200

I don't have just one but as a class I wish we could show Americans what turbo-diesels in every kind of car can do...from tiny to SUVs...Europe is turbo-diesel crazy and if we had any intelligence in DC and made it financially attractive buy diesel over gas we would save oil and get better performing cars. But, I

No I am not being hounded...just a few stares now and then. I was so stiff back in 1981 when we started that I decided from day one to let the cars be the stars and keep the tiny talent off screen whenever possible. That is what is different about us. You don't watch for me, you watch for the cars, and that is how it

I am very sad to see manuals decline. Paddle shift automatics are just one trick ponies for daily driving. Doing away with the shifter and the clutch just takes 2/3rds of the personal involvement out of the equation. But, then I don't sit in traffic going to work as long as most. Why someone has not marketed a true

I wish all cars had auto dimming rear view mirrors...outside and inside.

VW Jetta TDI is an easy pick. Love the 5 but it is not as much fun to drive and the diesel has so much guts. Prius is fine too but the least driver's car of the three by far.

It is a love hate for electronic nannys. On one hand you hate the fact they take some of the driving pleasure away. And, it is not a good thing to make someone think they are a better driver than they are. But, on the otherhand, take the latest Porsche 911, it is loaded with electronics that allow you to drive it

Yes, but we'd rather do something on how it came about...the people involved...their personalities...that is what our features are all about.

God I hope we never stop searching for more power. But, with that, how to do it with some respect to the enviornment. The fact that high hp engines today get double the mpg of engines of similar stature a gen ago is credit to engineering. For practical use, I think 200 hp is good for a well performing smaller vehicle
