Do you take all the supplements you need to bridge a complete diet? Yes, metabolism is natural but there are ways to coax it. That usually means getting everything you're body needs like proteins and other minerals you won't get being vegan.

Interesting. I've never heard of McDougall's diet. I will say I've been reading more on these carbohydrate heavy/no fats diets are that they are not good for you. I think it was the Netherlands that came out (along with more university studies) and suggested that we should be eating high animal fat diets/low grain

That's the problem right there. Peoples definition of healthy. All these trendy diets are luxury. Awhile grass-feed is more responsible, it's still a luxury. A chicken breast and some beans, that is cheap and very healthy. It isn't that hard to cook either...

Go to a store and see how much a giant bag of frozen chicken and some beans are. You'd be surprised how much you can make a dollar stretch. And that is a perfectly healthy, respectable meal.

Either you have an honest medical condition or you're eating too much. Just because your a vegan doesn't mean you're automatically going to skinny or that you can eat as much as you want. Calories in/calories out.

You probably took a lot of shit for this but I agree wholeheartedly. I would also add, just because a burger is $.99 doesn't mean you can then eat 5 of them in a sitting. A burger, fries, and water is about 800 calories. 2 meals of that a day, while not health, will not make you obese.
