I think it’s trope subversion. And she’s not really all that much of a joke. Sure her initial first impression is of a 1 dimensional party girl, but all of her actions from the portal onward subvert that. The viewer would expect her to freak out and be some high maintenance, demanding entitled overly emotional mess…

Superhero stuff should be full of angst, and pain, and RAAAAAGE!!!

I thought she was mildly funny. Perhaps even a breath of fresh air. If I see her again, it’s going to be overexposure. On the other hand, maybe she could take Stan Lee’s place showing up for 2 seconds in every Marvel film.

It has been sad to see people who’s comments I’ve enjoyed for over a decade seem to slip into such angry, reactive voices.

Nerds are the fucking worst, man.

Some folks just hate joy.

This is exactly the role June Diane Raphael would have played a decade ago and the reaction is the same:

Marvel created a character that the fans have loved and have embraced. THEYVE LOST THE PLOT.

In my lifetime I have seen many characters like Madisynn start out as annoying one note jokes only to become a popular fan favorite.

Some of y’all must be REAL fun at parties. 

She was a *GREAT* joke of a person.

There’s a rich lineage of beloved TV characters that, if you were in a room with them IRL, would make you tear out your own eyes just for something to plug your ears with.
