She also had a child and had every right to take time off postpartum. Looking forward to her Hulu show.

Yeah, exactly. Brendan Fraser is having a renaissance. Rachel has been working steadily - mostly doing voice work, but still - since Crazy Ex ended, which... wasn’t that long ago?
People under 60 are less likely to watch live television and people over 60 are less likely to know what a Ted Lasso is.
Seems like a perfect fit - looking forward to S2.
A renaissance in reference to an actor or artist implies that either they’re back after a long break or that they’ve returned to peak form after a string of disappointing projects. Neither applies to Rachel Bloom, who aside from taking a short break to have a baby has been working consistently and to acclaim since Cra…
Melissa’s character work wasn’t very strong, unless she was deep in impersonation, which she obviously excels at. They had the same problem with Jay Pharoah I think, who was also amazing at impersonations but wasn’t utilized much in sketches beyond that. (Though his princial character was funny, and he was great in…
Key & Peele winning sort of counts as a win for MADtv.
The cast size last year was 21. Losing 6 was finally getting it steered back to a manageable size. Maybe adding like 2 would have balanced the need for fresh faces without turning this upcoming season into another overly bloated affair. Part of the charm of SNL is watching a cast member break out, but it seems…
Melissa’s issue was she was a standup on a sketch show. I never got the feeling she wrote a lot of sketches for herself, which is really how you break out on that show.
Will SNL have Trump host in 2024? I love when SNL gets political and helps a politician with their campaign!!!!!!
I think I’ll just headcanon this as what Maeve was doing between seasons 3 and 4 of Westworld.
Colbert Report and The Daily Show used to sweep before they separated the category into “talk” and “variety” subcategories. Weirdly, Inside Amy Schumer beat them the first year after they did that, and then Key and Peele, then SNL swept from then on.
How many “Best variety show” emmys does SNL have? Lorne probably uses them as door stops at this point right? Was there one dark year in the late 90s where Mad TV stole it from them?
At least it’s somehow not a slideshow!
Four new featured players wouldn’t be awful. It’s not like you’re adding four to the main players so the effective number of regular cast members still goes way down. Then one or two of the newbies make some impression and stick around, and the others drop out.
I wouldn’t want to piss off Newton, but that may be because I’ve had the pleasure of watching her wield a katana on Westworld.
Why repugnant? That seems an odd choice of reaction for one of the only original projects in the bunch.
Is this an article, or a rant?
I make (primarily) electrodes: battery electrodes, fuel cell electrodes, solar cells... on a pilot scale basis. So, you know, mostly experimental type stuff for one reason or another. You wouldn’t believe the number of companies that are pounding on our doors, willing to throw buckets full of money at us, to give…
This is something I commented on month’s ago: there needs to be Moon Shot emphasis on batteries getting away from lithium while still performing well enough. Maybe this is the beginning of a whole new branch of battery tech which can be a cost-effective solution for the car battery supply issue.
