That assumption being that to be competitive, your company must provide goods/services at a cost competitive rate. And if your company was still as inefficient as you claim it is. Then your company would be either breaking even or in the hole.

Have you ever bought a new car before? Many brands have safety packages.

Wrong. Delays impact costs as well. Delays mean fewer flights and/or rerouting, which is all added expenses.

If the rates increase their margins will decrease. As millions start flocking to buses/trains/etc

Incorrectly*

I disagree, people buy volvos which are not luxury cars for luxury car prices because of perceived safety.

Wait do you honestly think privatizing the atc will be the same scenario as prisons?

They could, but that would be at the expense of the atc’s clients... which would be the airlines themselves.

What monopoly? The atc will exist as a non profit controlled by the airlines. It is in the airlines best interest to reduce atc cost and profits. And there will be just as many airlines as there is now.

Bad pr can destroy an airline. They operate on razer thin margins. They have a TON of incentive.

I said millions not billions. And for many flying is simply a more convient form of bus transport.

I guess you have never worked for a profitable company yet. Have you ever worked for the government to see how bad it can get?

The cost of this new entity is passed onto the airlines using it. Since the airlines control it, it is in their best interest to optimize the service. I thought that was pretty clear?

Are you joking me? If they run it into the ground, they will lose the privileges they get in being able to exert control over it.

The ATC is going to be a non profit entity. The companies controlling it however are not monopolies. Thank you try again.

No, I wholly disagree with your premise. If we were to choose safety 100%, our cars would be limited to a 10mph top end speed and be externally padded, and have a whole suite of sensors specifically dedicated to looking for pedestrians lying on the road.

The ATC is going to be a non profit entity.

Safety has immense value in a capitalistic sense. Especially for airlines, could you imagine how much money these companies would lose if all of a sudden their safety dropped down to that of a conventional automobile? They would lose millions of customers overnight.

One understated benefit of Privatization is the optimization that will be seen. Doing this will lower the net cost. Forms/reporting/regulations/practices of little value will be discarded as wasteful. Sure the cost of the ATC will now be absorbed into your flight cost instead of your tax dollars. The current setup

Yet despite the increased employment rate, median houshold income is roughly the same after inflation. More jobs, less pay.
