What value does unproductive land hold and how is this an atrocity? If there was value in the land it would be developed.

I would argue that a wealthy person owning vast tracts of land would be far more able to afford to make the lands profitable by being able to afford the machinery to extract the value from the land. Splitting a farm or any resource rich piece of land evenly among the people only serves to ensure that time/effort is

What about land? Do we have issues where wealthy people own too much land that is being wasted? No, wealthy people tend to maximize their capital assets. Them owning an expensive beach front property is affecting nobody but themselves and those who wish they could own it. Without a wage gap, that property ownership

Do you know of any perfect government systems?

Yeah I stated that you are technically correct. But when you compare policies, Canada has far more communist policies than it does monarch based decrees.

This discussion is about the wage gap and you reverted your argument to money isn’t everything. I am trying my best to suppress my giggles.

Lets use your numbers. 10x the vehicles that cumulatively use 100x more gasoline (because they can and do use them all at once clearly).

Yes Insurance money saves big time! It makes it so all these families don’t have to start from scratch without a pot to piss in. Are you honestly trying to imply that insurance is useless and never helped any of these people? Or that without insurance their lives would have been just as ruined?

The vast majority of the world isn’t starving right now. So I really don’t understand your point? Does it somehow prove that the cost of the vast majority of the worlds resources are being used up or influenced by the wealth of the worlds elite? No, the fact that we have so many trillions of dollars are “locked

Only 10% of the city lost their homes in the disaster and they got insurance money. So really, nobodies lives were destroyed, trust me I have family who lives there. Their combined average salary is over $300,000/year and they are stuck in a duplex with similar possessions to me and my families combined

No it wouldn’t, the value of the resource is dependent on how much people are willing to pay for the resource. If everybody has twice as much money, there will be twice as many dollars competing for the same pool of resources and then price on that stuff will double to match. A good example is Fort McMurray in

The singular blood drinking individual will not affect anybody but those directly involved with the procurement of that blood. That wealth will not affect the price of tea in china so to speak. Everyone will carry on like they normally would. Further, unless that singular individual likes to regularly fill his

I disagree, if someone is one million times more wealthy than me, they do not purchase 1 million times more food, 1 million times more houses, 1 million times more automobiles. Even hoarding of raw materials like gold seldom happens in mass. It is far more valuable to keep your wealth invested in companies that can

Bingo

If rich people buy excessive amounts of food/clothing/building materials/etc than this will temporarily harm resource distribution to people who can’t compete with their purchases. If these purchases continue, the market will adjust to satiate the demand of the rich until those resources become affordable again.

If 99% of the population instantly had twice as much wealth all taken from the richest people in the world, you would see the value of goods and services double since there are now twice as many dollars competing for those resources. End of the day we would still all be as poor as we are now.

I think you genuinely do not have a grasp on the fact that we have a limited amount of resources. In your example the amount of resources (food/electronics/power/etc) would NOT increase. Everyones wages would double and all of our costs would double, and we would be exactly as poor as we were before.

Most people when discussing things like the wage gap do not understand that regardless of how much money is in the system and how it is distributed, there are only so many resources to go around. If the world is starving to death because there are too many people. Sharing wealth won’t suddenly feed the entire

Tell that to achievement hunters, item collectors, and 100%ers. Though small, these things can provide plenty more motivation to go through the same set of actions over and over again.

I figured it might add a long term goal(s) that normally is completely absent in CS.
