The biggest carmaker in the world .... despite marginal US sales. They’d be better of without US operations.

Realistically though, the world market requires fuel efficient cars, and eventually locally emission free cars. Even if there were no environmental rules in the US, manufacturers would not change the general direction of development. However, when it comes to factory emissions, this could invite some bad behavior.

This is great, helps me to finally understand the different terms.

with EPA abolished in a few days, what does it matter?

make America grate again

Who cares about diesel anymore? Trump said ‘drilll baby, drill’, so lower gas prices ahead. No need for better mileage.

Yea, well, I don’t mind that aspect. However, just from an engineering standpoint, there are trade offs. You cannot optimize horsepower/speed, range and reliability. One aspect is going to suffer. Teslas run hot pretty quickly already if pushed, though average drivers will never see it. The FF, who often can it go

If the future is all self-driving, why does 0-60 still matter? Which ‘autopilot’ will ever use maximum acceleration?

Great, more road blocks next to the fucking slow driving Camrys

Given that the cars need to be scrapped anyway, this is probably going to save VW some money.

I’d take the old E-Class over this hideous thing. Cheaper, classier and built to last. And the wagon? A lot spacier.

lol

Just where do they lose all that money?

The million dollar question is this: who will be the first company to make money on each EV sold?

It is so funny when those cars are called “polluting” ... as if other cars didn’t pollute the environment.
