Oh my God, this is just lovely. How anyone can think the Trumpster Fire has any business replacing this man in the White House is beyond me.

I read a little book filled with Ali’s greatest quotes, and he was so witty and eloquent, but my favourite and I think the most beautiful and eloquent (and heart breaking) is about why he refused to fight the Viet Cong. It was so simple and so right.

For what it’s worth, the President and First Lady’s statement on Muhammad Ali is gorgeous and well worth reading:

If you can find it, there is an amazing documentary called “When We Were Kings,” about the Rumble in Jungle. Most of the film follows Ali during the lead up to the fight, and the footage is amazing. I hope someone will show it as a tribute, because it really shows so many of the facets of Ali’s incredible personality.

Over the years, I’ve seen a number of high-profile deaths get relegated to Jezebel’s “Dirt Bag” column and, like many other commenters, have been left scratching my head while quietly cursing the insufficient respect shown.

I dunno, Ali’s death is buried in a dirtbag on jezebel, while the death of a woman who once played baseball for a hot minute gets its own post. They were both sports figures, one was one of the greatest athletes of all times, the other was well known to her family and friends. Guess who received a hero’s farewell on…
