You’ve gotten to the nub of it. When determining whether a woman in her 30s, or even her 20s, needs to start getting annual mammograms, a breast cancer specialist is most concerned with whether her mother or any siblings have been breast cancer patients and whether they were pre-menopausal.

I suspect it has a lot, or at least something, to do with the fact that she’s co-starring in a play about fashion designer, Alexander McQueen — called McQueen — that’s opening on the London stage tonight (May 12th).

With a little help from James Joyce, I’d like to raise a glass to each and every one of your mothers. Tchin-tchin!

Scandinavian countries are just one of many examples, though. We’ve had (the addition of) paternal leave for quite some time now in Canada. It ends up providing some form of UI coverage for close to a year (50 weeks) and I’m pretty sure the only stipulation is that the birth mother take the first 15 weeks of leave for

My mother was widowed very suddenly and all-too-young but to her credit, she regained her impish side within the year. One fine day, she was in the local supermarket when she ran into one of the town’s nosiest and pettiest gossips who wasted no time in getting straight to the point, asking: so, what have you been

Unforgettable, really. I mean, the other four were so into their London Olympics Closing Ceremony performance — looking like there was no place they’d rather be that night — and then there was..... Posh. Oh. my. gosh. Her close-ups were rather painful to watch.

I think your sister did the right thing. My son got “scouted” a number of times when he was a little guy — for some reason it always happened in restaurants — but we never pursued any offers, for all kinds of reasons, including the looks-focussed environment issue.

Yes, we’re all just so parochial, aren’t we? This implication coming from a woman who only became “aware” of maxi dresses, like, five years ago? Above and beyond all that is wrong with this snark-masquerading-as-satire piece of Jezebel click-bait, her fashion radar appears to be on the fritz. Big time.

Boom!

I wish there was a way to bump your comment much, much higher in the queue, where it belongs. Seriously. <3

I’ll second you on that: the tone of that Ashley Olsen blurb was just really off. It’s a debilitating disease but it sure as heck ain’t “trendy”.

By the looks/sounds of it, Kim K. likes having memories and mammaries.

I’ll fess up: I laughed, especially with respect to the RitRit nickname.

Someone else had mentioned Game Of Thrones but I hadn’t thought of the cosplay angle. It’s a good observation, in my opinion.

I don’t follow Game Of Thrones but, nevertheless, I can see your point. ;=)

Yeah, she’s not exactly teaming with (last night’s) theme but I felt Karen Elson was one of a handful of stand-outs on a pretty lacklustre red carpet.

Great choices, especially Zhang Ziyi, who did not get nearly enough press — or praise — for this stunning look.

That possibility crossed my mind, too. It pretty much put an end to her modelling career.

You’ve received some really first-rate suggestions but one point I’d like to stress is that Cork (the city) has evolved into an even better experience than Dublin. Don’t get me wrong: I love Dublin, and it’s not to be missed — for so many reasons — but Cork is wonderful and wonderfully earthy in its own right.

I’m thinking that way, too, plus it would explain why no cause of death has yet been given. Preliminary results of an autopsy should determine that, allowing the family to move forward with funeral plans. This is such jarring news, any way you look at it.
