Not questioning that part, I’m a parent, I get it. From a PR angle though it’s terrible and just comes off as two people being extremely selfish when there’s a newborn involved.

I live in Australia but renewed my U.S. passport recently and the new one came through in 2-3 weeks, so at least some countries’ consulates must have facilities to do the entire process without going through the home country offices.
