I am with you on much of this, but I don’t need a “kick ass stereo” and power folding mirrors that save two inches in width are good for those of us with narrow garages.
Yep, and in addition, bring down the cost of the new car. I very much get that we need safety for ourselves and others. But those features can be refined and the cost brought down for the same safety, over time.

Yeah, the cause and effect here are probably pretty tangled up. I’ve spent enough time in those circles (or at least adjacent to them) to know that it gets real fucking complicated one shit starts to go off the rails, and our society does not make it easy to pull out of a tailspin.
