It’s worth remembering that the “DW” in the DW12 model name refers to Dan Wheldon, who did the testing and setup work on the design when it first came out. He won the Indy 500 in 2005 and 2011, but didn’t have a full-time ride for most of the 2011 season.

I can recall watching the TV coverage of this as a kid. Frankly, it was a real snoozefest. The F1 cars were so much faster than the FA cars that the outcome was never in doubt.

I’m amazed nobody has commented on that until now - Maryland tags for a car sold in NYC?  Sketchy as hell.

Sad news indeed, Vic was one of the greats in sportscar racing. He could have made his mark in F1 too, but was never in quite the right place at the right time.

In the 1990's, I traveled to Bromont, Quebec on business a couple of times. I remember there was the new Hyundai factory there, and Bromont was (and still is) the only place where I’ve seen where the local police dept. has Hyundai police cars.

Here’s some enhanced footage from the 1973 Targa Florio, once of the last once held:

It’s good that Bogleheads is being publicized in personal finance postings, but there’s much more available at the bogleheads.org web page: an extensive message board, the bogleheads Wiki page, and other links.

1970 Plymouth Superbird and 1969 Dodge Daytona. The shape of the aero nose panel gets totally broken up.

I have to agree with this - Senna started only three races with Williams almost 30 years ago, and he DNF’d in every one - Obviously, the third race was the one in which he crashed fatally. Also, the team principals from Senna’s short time with Williams are no longer around: Patrick Head retired, and Frank Williams died

I’m pretty sure the Dasher name was changed to Passat due to the bad reputation the Dasher had in the US market.

Yeah, only one exit? That seems a little sketchy, to say the least.

I think it’s all of the above. Before gas mileage and imported oil became hot-button issues, “heavier” = smoother riding, safer as far as the car-buying public was concerned.   The Detroit Big 3 certainly encouraged that perception.

These designs were from the early 1970's, pre-Middle East Oil crisis, pre-CAFE regulations.

Drive by the Exxon plant in Linden, NJ on I-95, and you get the same effect. The New York City skyline is off in the distance, nice visual to go with the smell.

I had a Honda Civic sitting for a long time in a small garage. One of the rear wheels had seized up solid due to the parking brake having applied when it was first parked. With a pair of wheel dollies like the black ones in the article, I was able put the rear wheels on them and get the car winched out slowly without

My pleasure! The GPL mod community is very active - Check the SRMZ.net message board for GPL, they can be very helpful if you have problems with all the patches. Getting them working properly is rather complicated. Also, be sure to check out some of the add-on tracks that have been created - GPL modders have been

There are now many add-on mods for GPL that are better-sorted than the original game was. They’re the “unofficial” remakes, I think there’s now a remake for the original 1967 cars. Check out this link GPLWORLD.DE , or go to SRMZ.netf or the GPL subforum:

The 1974 NASCAR Matador coupe deserves more respect.

Here’s an even better example of a good-looking, shark-nose BMW.
