I would sure like an AWD hatchback with a normal ride-height for snowbelt winter driving, but Subaru and Suzuki have probably saturated that market in the USA.

You touch on it in the posting, but another issue that bears emphasizing: Investing heavily in your own company is generally NOT a smart way to build financial security.

The Connew F1 Car is the subject of a long-running discussion thread on the Autosport.com Nostalgia forum. Barry Boor Still posts on this thread (and others on the Nostalgia forum) fairly regularly, the car is undergoing a restoration:

Holden, which is GM’s Australian subsidiary, had its own version of that ad campaign:

Va-Va-Va-VOOOM!!

Just FYI - In 1975, the ADAC (the German equivalent of the AAA) gave the Matra Bagheera the “Silver Lemon” award for having the poorest reliability of any car they’d surveyed.

That gap represents high-quality French workmanship!

Years ago, late in the 1990’s tech bubble, I told a friend that I was invested in mutual funds (mostly index funds). The friend’s response was “That’s boring.” This person was heavily invested in one high-flying, well-known tech company stock that went on to have a bumpy ride before the company got merged.

When is it acceptable to spank?

Right, I was thinking more of the replicas of the General Lee you still see people making today. Paint the car in its original groovy 1969 colors, dammit!

What’s wrong is that a perfectly good 1969 Charger was sacrificed to make that tiresome TV car. I wish people would stop making replicas of that car and instead restore them to their stock, groovy 1969-vintage colors and vinyl tops!

I always figured the 956/962 statistically had a better (and certainly longer) track record than the 917, but it had much weaker competition until the late 1980’s, when Jaguar and Mercedes got their acts together.

In addition to his friendship with Ruth Ginsberg, Scalia has also taken Elena Kagan on hunting trips.

Felt definitely was not Jewish.

When I was a kid, the family cat was doing something that annoyed me, and I instinctively called it by my little sister’s name.

They were no doubt celebrating “Jewish Christmas” = Chinese food + A movie.

They have bonded over a shared love of opera.

True story:

Because he’s a 79 year-old, Italian-Catholic (Opus Dei), conservative Republican, no great mystery.
