A Miata has no utility whatsoever, it’s quite literally a bespoke platform that no one can realistically use, the opposite of functional. As a daily workhorse it is good for nothing other than groceries or moving 2 bodies from A to B. It does fine as a roadster and nothing else.

This doesn’t make sense, they’re the victim of a crime, in this case car theft. How on earth are they putting the onus of responsibility for the crash cleanup on someone that a) wasn’t involved with the crash and b) was the victim of the criminal that caused the crash.
