From sometime in the early 70s. 50/50 chance he was wearing shorts.

“First he caught 15 innings. Then he pitched two perfect innings, and won the game for the Class-A Tampa Yankees with a home run in the 17th inning.”

Thought so, thought so. Recommencing my original laughing at the other guy who didn’t realize you were joking.

Wait, you didn’t know that’s what the numbers were? I thought you were asking as a joke and was gonna laugh at the guy who didn’t realize it was a joke...but it wasn’t a joke? You must not have a lot of friends with babies, because I can’t go a day without seeing a Facebook baby in a new number onesie.

Hypothetical: he had a GoPro on. Deadspin get ahold of the footage. Do you run it? And would I watch?

Two theories on the timing:

Would it have been too much to ask that the home plate umpire give us a “he’s safe” sign after the summersault?

How the hell does somebody get THAT stuck on a basketball hoop?

this guy.

I can’t be the only one who thought this was kinda funny, can I? Or am I totally wrong this time?

So why doesn’t Deadspin offer him a roster spot? Or at least a training camp invitation? It would at least lead to...something. I don’t know. But something.

I love love love OneTab. I do think there are ways it could be improved though, most notably creating a second column to the right so i don’t have to scroll down to find links and can organize more easily.

I don’t have the patience or energy to look this up for myself, so I’ll just ask you all: how many times has a lower seed swept a higher seed in the first round (or any round, for that matter)? Can’t imagine it happens very often, and no instances are coming to mind.

You guys remember a few months ago, when everyone made fun of those body builders arguing about how many days are in a week? Well, your conversation about what constitutes “batting around” was the perfect baseball version of that. Nicely done.

Fifth death: the son of samdy (or do you only count deaths we see perpetrated?)

Does this even include that terrible 19 inning, seven-hour Yankees-Red Sox game? Probably doesn’t skew it very much, but removing that one data point would shave a few seconds from that 8-minute/game number.

What’s the etiquette for buying off-registry? I always want to buy something fun or useful that the parents might not have thought of, but worry that they might have it already or not want or need it. And it’s not fun asking them if beforehand, removes the surprise element...

A-Rod hitting a home run while the Yankees still lose the game truly is the perfect combination.

“If I find I’m making a white lie, I’ll back off and say “no, that’s bad.”

Do any national anthem singers get paid, whether amateur athletes, celebrities, or random contest winners?
