Most other countries seem to have figured out something that America just can’t: if third-party liability insurance is legally mandatory, instead of letting assholes find ways around it and drive uninsured, they just made third-party liability insurance a public, tax-funded thing.

She didn’t do anything illegal. Dumb, yes. But it was just a stupid accident and this guy was just unlucky enough to be in the way. Not having insurance is a citation (fine), not criminal.

You know, my mind just cannot handle our system and social ethics. It is somehow more acceptable for reliance on donations than simply giving people access to free medical because they ‘haven’t earned it’. I... am I the only one who sees how insane this thought process is?

His car insurance doesn’t cover his living room. His renters insurance doesn’t cover his health and his regular medical insurance has a crazy high deductible. Basically, he’s in a lurch without our help.
