There’s also last minute online gift giving, like a subscription to Scribd for a reader, HBO, Netflix, another streaming service for a movie lover, or a gift card for a favorite restaurant(I’ve ordered these over the phone, and the restaurant will be happy to hold to card until the person comes in to claim it). Then

OK, I feel badly now because I was the one to mention goose. A very expensive experiment, I’ve had one or two of those. The Armagnac must have set you back a pretty penny, but at least you can drink the rest of it. However, I DID say it was at a German family’s house, and it was Christmas, so when I Googled “German

Who does this? I’ve never seen or heard of it. I put my eggshells into my composting container under the sink, and when I didn’t compost I threw them straight in the trash. Typically if I’m making something involving eggs, like a cake, I prep by taking out the number of eggs the recipe calls for, and putting the

I had a Mercedes which had the stupid cupholders hanging in the air above the center console. One day I tried to put my coffee there without looking, missed and spilled the coffee all over the gear shift. It was not sealed up and the liquid went down into the gear box. Everything seemed fine at first, but by the next

Since I live in New Jersey, the first place that came to mind was D’Artagnan. I checked and they do have goose, but it’s sold out for Thanksgiving.

I tried the electric roaster one year. It cooked the turkey faster than estimated, so it was falling apart. Although it was very nice and moist, the skin was not crispy. sorry!

Duck is delicious, and this recipe sounds fabulous. Let me also say a word about goose. So good. When I was a child, my family used to be invited for Christmas dinner to a German family’s home, and they would always have roast goose. Those are the only times I’ve had a chance to eat it, but it lives on in my memory. I

I make jams and jellies too, but I only gift them to select people, who I know really appreciate them. It’s a lot of work(especially because I often make them from wild fruit I forage myself), so I’m not going cast pearls before swine.

I recommend “Uncivil” which covers little-known history of the Civil War.

A soft t-shirt is at least better than paper. NEVER use paper to clean glasses, even napkins and tissues have tiny wood fibers that can scratch them.

When I worked in an office, I had to leave my desk to get a midday break, because otherwise people ignore the fact that you are trying to eat lunch, and come and bother you and ask work-related questions. Also, once you’ve finished your sandwich or whatever, if you’re surfing the net or reading a book, it looks like

I had one of these I drove cross-country with(NJ to Oregon, down to California, and back to NJ taking a more southern route). It was a 3-speed on the column, and you really could not kill that car. It was a ‘67, and I think I paid around $700 for it, this was in the early 1980's. I would have gotten my money’s worth

I don’t where you people are living, but as soon as one arrives at a dealership in NJ, they are out the door. The dealers are desperate for more Mach-E’s to sell. We called around to different places for cars we saw advertised online, and within hours they would be gone.

We test drove a a Mach-E here in New Jersey, no problem. All they wanted was a copy of your license. They kept one for test driving, and they even let people borrow it overnight! Then another dealership a few miles away said they don’t let people test drive their Mach-E’s at all. So I guess you just have to try

You’re right about the shoes. I have shoe travel bags which were handed down to me from my mother. They are made out of stretchy material, they look like oversized socks with a drawstring on the top, and they are the best thing ever.

So jealous! Turkey is on my bucket list. I’ve picked up many hitchhikers, and hitchhiked a lot myself, including a couple of memorable long trips; one from NJ to Phoenix, AZ and back, and another time all the way across Israel north to south, from near the border with Lebanon to the Gulf of Aqaba. Also, Turkish food

People confusing “artisan” with “artesian” drives me nuts. I actually saw an informational sign at an historic site talking about “an artisan well”. Wells are artesian, hand-crafted items can be called artisan, although it’s ridiculously overused for everything from potato chips on up.

I use it for flan and key lime pie. but the soft serve ice cream is a great idea.

The mechanism to provide pressure for the window washer on the old VW squareback, was an airhose connected to the spare tire. Which was under the front hood because the engine was in the back. I never realized this until my spare was flat, and the window washer stopped working. I’m not making this up!

Yum, and some chile powder. Mexican street corn, it’s the best.
