The birds eye view doesn’t really do it justice. The listing from January has some lovely shots; it’s actually quite a nice property (not exactly my style, but neither is it anything like much of the nouveau awful out there). But by no definition is that a “McMansion” - that word was coined specifically to describe

Pink Ears, my darling, you clearly have been at a better class of conference center than I have!

I’m not particularly concerned with that. Yes, in normal times such a strategic link might have been cause for anxiety, but right now they are both totally broke, failed states. The frail supporting the lame.

The US stock markets have been robust for the past 6 weeks for TWO REASONS. First, the Fed dropped interest rates to zero. Thus, any investor - from the individual to the largest funds - seeking ANY return (rather than just parking money for safety) has had no choice but to move to the stock market.

House arrest at their Bel Air palazzo must be pure hell (yet who amongst us wouldn’t gladly give it a try*?).

I didn’t know about that one. Thanks for the link. Interesting Debbie Harry in particular was clearly influenced by a lot of Peggy’s technique (not on rock numbers, but on many of her more eclectic choices).

I’m terribly sorry to hear that, and I, too, wish you could take the time you need to rebuild your life while summering at your Hamptons retreat. Best luck to you.

Brad Pitt is hardly out of work. His Plan B Entertainment Co has NINE films slated to open in 2020-21, a recently inked (in Jan) deal with Amazon, and SIX TV shows in some level of production (ranging from pending to in-the-can).

I honestly don’t know. Mary Martin was such a huge star (remember, the iconic roles of Nellie Forbush in South Pacific and Maria von Trapp in Sound of Music were written for her). I don’t remember her ever playing night clubs (she was also very wealthy, owning some of the shows in which she starred). She worked in

It’s a great weekend getaway, and adjacent Cambria has some really lovely places to stay and EXCELLENT FOOD & WINE. It’s all that great central coast organic, grass fed gourmet-but-homey ethos and I’ve never had a bad meal in Cambria.

Because my family tree has limbs in widely disparate parts of showbiz, here’s a true story that’s  so applicable to your comment. My uncle (long since deceased) did their wigs for that Copa show. For some reason their regular hair person wasn’t there, and he was brought to the Copa’s management by Broadway star Mary

Years ago I was hesitant, but after my first tour I couldn’t get enough and went right back for itinerary #2 and 3.

Hester, darling: right answer, full stop.

No one can really know what happened behind closed doors there. There was sort of a “don’t ask, don’t tell - and whatever you do, be discreet” policy at Hearst castle. Famously, Hearst didn’t approve of drinking, so Marion Davies would slyly hide bottles in guests’ rooms. What happened beyond that? The many ubiquitous

I can’t find a clip of it, but one of her best interviews EVER was on The Today Show (maybe GMA?) at around the time Madonna had released that cover of Fever. Peggy Lee was asked what she thought of Madonna’s version and answered, in her inimitably understated way, “Well, her version is disco, and mine ...[pause]...isn

I would be remiss, on this day which would’ve been her 100th birthday, not to include “Two Shows Nighly: Live at the Copa”...

Fabulous...

Today is the centenary of Peggy Lee’s birth. Before there was an Adele or Lady Gaga or a Madonna or Diana Krall or even Carole King, there was Miss Peggy Lee (as she was always billed): writer, arranger, jazz and pop vocalist beyond compare.

Somebody did. Scroll up to the summary written up by criminykicket.

Rick Ross’ swimming pool looks like he was going for the look of the grand pool at Hearst Castle (but, y’know, on a less is more budget):
