The worst race ever run...so far.  Let’s see if we can do worse in 2021!

I think it’s entirely plausible that they could have gotten Britain to drop out. It would probably have required Churchill not being PM, but I think it’s totally plausible in 1940 for the Brits to decide to tap out.

The Finns didn’t have much to bargain with. IIRC the army’s commander said something like “You need to make peace in the next week because if you don’t then they’re going to break through and we lose everything.”

The war was won, but it wasn’t over.  Until the Japanese agreed to surrender we were still facing a land invasion of the home islands, which would have killed more people on both sides.

Compare the conditions in the internment camps vs. the German camps.

The problem is that modelling that sort of thing is really difficult. Hearts of Iron does a decent job I think. They have sabotage behind the lines unless you commit military units to police jobs.  They just released a new DLC that was supposed to flesh that out further too.

The Germans winning is the most interesting alternate history.

I’ve only had my ‘19 for a year. I had my ‘08 for 11 years, I only had a couple of problems, busted AC compressor, bad ignition coil and a broken cable in my transmission (should have seen the mechanics face when I told him I drove there in neutral). That was over 189000 miles IIRC.  I dunno how that compares to other

The screen has reset like...5 times in the year I’ve had the car, which is annoying but not critical. Other than that the only problem I’ve had is rocks getting into the wheels somewhere and dingling around, that’s happened twice. I can’t say for sure that it’s a fault with the car because I have aftermarket wheels.

Yeah. I see guys driving huge trucks or women driving enormous SUVs with one person in them and it’s just...why? Granted a small number of them probably need it, just not obviously when I see them, but I can’t imagine the vast majority of suburb dwellers getting much use out of a 8000 pound monster truck.

Yeah, here in the US you’re required to have comprehensive insurance because, well, the car isn’t yours.  The bank wants to know they will get their money back if you wreck it.

Oof.

Yeah, sometimes I wish I had the extra clearance.  I think I’m gonna fuck up my skidplate in not too long as is. Delivering pizza means I get to deal with a TON of unpleasant driveways.

That’s what the back is for.

Probably a bit late to be building character. I gotta say though, I like cool cars, but when the rubber hits the road I got a Honda Fit, twice. I’d love to have something sporty, but I don’t get, at all, the people who spend huge amounts of money they don’t have on a vehicle they don’t need.

Why are you buying a Raptor if you don’t have a pile of cash to blow?

I don’t think there’s many station wagons available now.  That said, if you have one or two children you don’t even need a station wagon, you can get by just fine with a subcompact hatchback.

Or buy something for less than 34k.

Serious question, what about the insurance payments?  You have to pay comprehensive with financing, once it’s paid off you can go liability only and pay less money.

Can confirm, I have a ‘19 Honda Fit that replaced my ‘08 Honda Fit. It’s a great car with great mileage that can haul almost anything short on an entire soccer team.
