Possibly not. The convention hasn’t started yet; I’d bet if you’re credentialed media with a major network who has permission to be in the building, no one’s keeping tabs on you. And I doubt a stage largely populated by techs and set dressers has security guarding it.

Like I said in my previous comment: without mentioning it, the rest of the piece doesn’t make any sense. You can’t explain your fear without context.
That’s the thing... it’s not a “story” in the sense that you mean it; the author isn’t breaking any news, or providing any more information than is needed to make sense of their comments.
