A simple "Transfer Purchases to a Different Apple ID" function would do the trick, right? I'm surprised this isn't an option already (after all, why shouldn't we be able to give away stuff we've bought?).

No, I haven't. Doesn't look like the Note II is mentioned in this article though.

I use a Bluetooth speakerphone in the car, and that's it.

Marketing works on everyone. Have you ever been excited to see an upcoming movie or buy a new _____? That's marketing.

This is what The Doors would sound like if they'd kept making music.

I guess that begs the bigger question: why is the iPhone the biggest, most-known product? Lots of people moan (rightly?) about Android being a better platform, about Samsung making better phones. But ultimately, marketing is what sells the phones to people, and should be discussed as much as tech specs (and maybe

1) Great username :)

- vampires are IDEAS, but only the story of one particular vampire can be protected (ie the plot of "Dracula")

That's too bad. I've owned a myriad of Apple products since 2000 and the only thing that's gone "wrong" is one failed hard drive (but even that was after six years, so you can hardly blame Apple). A few laptops, two desktops, three iPods, iPhones, an iPad, Apple TV... all in perfect working order by the time I

That's a good point. However, most reporting shows that Apple makes a LOT more off of their phones (since they're selling both the hardware and apps)... and isn't whose piece of the pie is worth the most what really matters? Whether you're Google, Samsung or Apple, the goal is to make money.

I never said that *I* don't like choice or variety... but I do think that what's consumers as a whole want. I didn't want Justin Bieber to sell millions of records either, but apparently there were enough who felt differently :)

Of course that was my argument! I thought I was pretty clear.

Yeah.... I actually didn't say that any of this was a *good* thing, it was just an observation. Good marketing leads to good sales in most cases, like it or not.

Where did I say that I don't want any choices? Nowhere.

I never said this was a great idea. But, it is obviously Apple's strategy and it seems to be working.

The article I linked IS talking about the iPhone (it's in the headline, but then they switch to talking about iPad which is a little confusing!).

Yeah, it's not exactly the "nice guy" move, but they have obligations to their shareholders. The whole system needs to be overhauled, but until that happens (and I hope it does), well... lawyers gonna lawyer.

Market share might be dropping, but SALES are increasing, which is what I said in the first place: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-sees-over-increase-q4-214652484.html

You can tell that it's dying by the way sales keep increasing.
