On track this might stand a better chance than in normal traffic...the drivers on track are usually focussed on whats happening around them. As opposed to somebody in a minivan in traffic, who is having one eye on the phone, while the kids scream in the back.
Might I hazard a guess: you are based in the US? It at least sounds like the typical american “Every car below 300hp is underpowered because I need at least that number to safely merge onto the highway.”
