@cc: I would close my door but then I would have cats scratching at it all day to get in/out. They don't actually want to get in or out, they just don't like closed doors.

@Raven Riley: I worked retail for about 8 years. For the first week my back and feet were a little sore because I wasn't used to standing for long periods of time. I did buy a better pair of shoes and my body otherwise adjusted to it and I felt no worse after a day standing than on any other day.
I have been using something like this for a while. Instead I use a folded sheet of paper taped at the edges to form a pocket. I hang it on the wall using painters tape so it can be easily moved when you have more than one hole to drill.
Two monitors seems to be the sweet spot for me. The actual size and format of the second screen isn't critically important. Right now I have a 22" wide but have also used an old 17" standard. The main thing is that I have a place to keep a window with some secondary information open when doing web development.
I made a few hundred dollars earlier in the year selling some old hardware on eBay. It's astonishing what people will pay for old CPUs, and I always start the bidding low just to get rid of the thing.
If I was already having a really bad day I wouldn't sit so close to the edge of the train platform.
@wreckemtech: We had a Vicks (as in VapoRub) humidifier several years back that produced a nice spray-bottle kind of mist. It wasn't the ultrasonic kind that produced the fine vapor, but some mechanical setup that spun the water up a funnel to create the mist. I would think this kind of thing would work well for what…
@jawnc: Always... that pale, washed out version.
@eleraama: I never even noticed until I read an article about it a couple of months ago, then I started seeing it everywhere. This would include the restaurant where I ate dinner in San Francisco the other night. Papyrus logo on the side of the building, the entire menu, wine list, etc. It was overpriced and painfully…
Cutesy fonts and ugly backgrounds, especially in office/business email.
Ironically, the only spam that ever makes it past the gmail filters are the ones which simply link to a shared google document. Consequently, I have a filter setup to delete anything that contains a link to docs.google.com.
@Nikhil Gupta: (boosts wireless signal)
@codyflee: Like my Eris :) If anything the look and feel of the 2.2 update would be cool, but I'll get by without it. Tethering would be nice but I'm sure Verizon will shut that down so it's kind of a non issue.
@prupert: You will probably be eligible for a new phone before that happens (only half joking). Though at this point I'm quite happy with 2.1, it is a vast improvement over 1.5, especially in terms of speed.
@TechRuss: Same here. I work from home and could set my own hours, if I worked and slept according to my natural schedule that is. However, I keep roughly the same schedule as my wife who has a regular 9-5 deal... I would never see her otherwise.
@moonshadowkati: I have found myself in this situation recently as well. What you say is exactly true, trying or learning something new has really helped me get back on track. I spent part of my weekend working on a side project using a new (to me) web development framework and the process of learning and solving new…

@TehBeardMan: I can relate to the overwhelming feeling, there are tons of choices out there. Since I live near a couple BevMo's I will stop in periodically and pick up a couple of $6 - $10 bottles from the aisle stacks. I have recently started snapping a picture of the label on my phone if I really like a bottle, that…
@psychiccheese: Not attacking btdown personally, but based on their post I wouldn't want to work for them either.
@magnus84: R.O.A.C.H.: KMart... Even blue lights can't make them cool. ;)
