I would be interested to know how ad-supported vs. paid apps figure into the numbers above. Several of the applications on my Droid have a free, ad-supported version or a pay version. Is this also the case with the iPhone?

@Firesphere: If you don't happen to have an Ikea near by, these chair mats are available at any office supply store. I think I have also seen them at Costco as well as Fry's Electronics. Lots of size and shape variations are available to fit your particular situation.

@jaycustom79: That's what I was hoping, but was just a little worried that there was the possibility of some corruption. I'll go ahead and give it a try next time I fire up the laptop.

I actually thought about doing the SD card thing for ReadyBoost and even bought a card to use. The problem is the location of the card slot makes it all too likely that I will accidentally eject the thing at some point. I'm guessing that would be bad.

@Jerry Stevenson, @AmishJohn: Either way, your mirror will never be clean again.

@iWillJ: Disgusting? This looks glorious. In fact, I'm going to have this for dessert after eating my double down.

@chrisrosa: Urban Myth? Really? Judging by many of the replies, and my personal experience, this does sometime work. Since expensive professional recovery isn't worth it for most people, this is a valid last-ditch effort type of thing. Success rates are around 40%-50% in my experience, though your mileage may vary.

@Confuzius: I think I'm just sticking to supervised outside time. When I'm sitting out there with them they're fine. It' when I leave for 5 minutes I find them up there, leaning way over the edge to see what's happening on the balcony below.

@criosray: And here I am singing the praises of my dust buster. I should clarify, I only use it on the outside (vents, etc).

Wow. That's leaf-blower territory there in that picture, and it's probably advisable to take that one outside anyway.

@huh989: Well that's encouraging :)

I recently moved into a 3rd story apartment and have 2 cats. They *love* going out on the balcony doing all that stuff that cats do, especially jumping up on the railing with a 25 ft drop on the other side. I know this is just cats doing what cats do, but it still makes me a little nervous.

@MagicMT: Also, that's just Google Analytics tracking information in the link you posted. Other sites may actually rely on that querystring information to function properly however.

@default8394: Came here to say this. I was very excited by the prospect of Skype on my mobile, especially for indoor areas with plentiful WiFi and crappy cell reception. Was very disappointed when reading the comments in the marketplace, so much so that I didn't even bother with it. I realize that voice minutes are a

Does anyone know of a decent, preferably free, program that can do some simple color correction on an old photo? My mom has some old photos of me that have that yellow/orange tint that old photos get, she would like a couple of them reprinted for framing. I have tried a couple of the Photoshop tutorials I found

I started using Win7 when the RC came out and haven't looked back since.

@Jason Ness: I came here to suggest the same thing. I just got my Blizzard mobile authenticator for my Droid and really like the added level of security, especially now that I may go a week or 2 without logging in. I would never know it was hacked until it was way too late.

@techfox: I have also started adding the sites that I use frequently to my whitelist recently. I still don't really like the animated ads because they tend to be distracting, but as long as they are not annoying or intrusive I will let them pass. As soon as an ad makes a noise, bounces, flashes or materializes over

As a general rule I will just ignore the phone unless I am waiting for a particular message. One exception that another commenter already pointed out is when I am part of a group and we are expecting someone else to show up. Texting the person seems acceptable in that situation, and is much less disruptive than a

@DarwinSurvivor: This is the method I have always used. The side mirror clears the garage opening by about 2 inches in the left, and when it is about 1 inch past the storage totes stacked on the side, we're parked.
