$8500 for a ~70hp front wheel drive car, and "nice price" is winning? What have Jalopnik readers become!

In order to be street legal in Nevada, a motor swap must use a newer motor. As such, swapping a late 70's/early 80's motor into an early 90's car wouldn't be street legal here, hence my crack pipe vote.

True, although I prefer the body of the Slingshot - particularly the headlights. The Dodge Slingshot's look clean, almost 350Z like. Smart Roadster's just seem... out of place, almost like sportbike headlights were grafted on late in the design process.

When I was younger, I would have purchased a Dodge Slingshot:

Not sure why it worked, then didn't once I submitted... :(

I know it's sexist, but knowing my girl, the ad does kind of make a good point...

+1. I live where it rains from time to time, so that's a dealbreaker for the TR8. Not so much because it's an older convertible, but because its electronics were made by Lucas.

...and half of jalopnik plans on shoving God and threatening to buy his family some day for that whole 'rain' crap he pulled several times.

Provoked, sure? But not to violence, though. The owner is lucky is isn't facing assault charges and petty civil lawsuit.

It totally depends on parent involvement and whether or not you want the kid to love cars or view them as transportation.

Not sure why people are claiming this thing is a boat. At 4,500lbs, it's roughly the same weight as a similarly equipped modern BMW. Nice price.

You're thinking of the second generation Dodge Challenger.

The Panamera is one of those weird cars where it looks better in person than it does in photos. I still have no idea how that is possible, but it is true.

Mr. Tuttle: Miss Turtle, what is the first thing we do when we get behind the wheel?Lisa: Adjust the mirrors.Mr. Tuttle: Correct. And for what purpose?Lisa: To check my make-up.Mr. Tuttle: Miss Turtle, I suggest you study harder, or start practicing how to say "taxi!"

Absolutely. Had my parents gotten me a 924 or an old Miata when I was in high school instead of an underrated death trap Ford Festiva, I would have become a much better driver much sooner in my life.

The early 924's feature an Audi engine with a VW bus head. If you want cheap and reliable, they're likely your best bet. That said, expect a slow car. Like, unless you have driven cars from that era, you really don't understand how slow 70s 4-banger slow is.
