Poor reliability of the RX-8, especially the Renesis motor and the build quality from the first model year, goes far beyond lazy owners not checking the oil levels. Corners were cut in order to hit the initial under $25k price point.
Crack Pipe for one main reason - just look at the rust forming in the engine bay. :O
I vaguely remember these - although I remember them as the Dodge Daytona. The Plymouth Laser I remember as a badge engineered first generation Mitsubishi Eclipse.
I just spent two hours yesterday driving a rented Chrysler minivan through the Sierra Nevada mountains back from a business trip. I was really impressed with the motor and interior. Unfortunately, the motor was undone by the slow shifting yet still shift happy transmission, and the handling proved why I don't drive a…
I remember when the S2000 was announced that I felt that might be the end of the Miata. But then, as more details emerged, it became apparent that an optioned S2000 would cost twice what a base model NB Miata was going for. And while the S2000 is obviously a much better car in nearly every way than a NB Miata, the…

The sad thing is that the CRZ could still be salvaged if Honda would stop being so stubborn with respect to the available…
Not sure the logic behind thinking a "sub-$25k car doesn't sound as quiet as an upper market luxury car" is as annoying of a flaw as, say, the "Apex seals failing in the Mazda RX-8's Renesis every 40-80k", or the "drive wheels in the ST163 and newer Toyota Celicas being in the front of the car instead of the rear",…
The 2038 BMW 3-series will integrate a new tungsten based roof, cutting the weight down to under 8,000lbs.
Not sure how the R230 series SL-500 isn't getting any love/hate. You know how most cars have a button on the automatic shifter that you depress to allow shifting into reverse/neutral/drive? On the R230, that's the start/kill button. Look at the headlight switch on the left - 9 different positions for some reason. The…
