Conservative Texans love Californians when we're moving our tech industry over there wholesale. Didn't think about the votes that came with it, did you?

Nope, that's Schlitzie from Tod Browning's Freaks, to which Pepper is also an homage. Pictured next to Schlitzie is "Half-Boy" Johnny Eck also from Freaks.

Come on, Ralph licking the ice cream after he gets beheaded = obvious Re-Animator reference.

Um, yes, hello, while Stephen King indeed wrote The Shining , the phrase "All Work And No Play Makes Jack A Dull Boy" does not appear in the original novel, thus making the appearance of King writing the phrase meaningless.

Same quake had the Cypress Structure (I-580) upper deck section pancake onto the lower, killing 42. Not caught on film, but there were hours of rescue footage shown on the news.

The Oakland Bay Bridge collapse after the earthquake in 1989 wasn't nearly as dramatic as any of these but I remember being shocked. I was living in Sacramento at the time and we barely felt a tremble. Can you imagine this happening while you're trying to get home after work?

That's what I thought of, too! I'm amused that a weirdass case-of-the-week is actually occurring.

"Excellent..."

I was about to comment that this was in House!

Jesus, how hard is it to make the medication into a patch?

Um there have been topical numbing agents since the 80s. Why is this news?

Sounds better than the Gawker style of commenting where all my posts are grey and hidden from sight even though I'm not a "bad" commenter. You guys have a frustrating system here.

Ahhh, This Island Earth. I saw the MSTie version in theaters. That's how hardcore I am.

Gregory's Girl is actually a good movie.

You think every female scientist in the UK is a rad fem and that's why they weren't invited onto the panel?

Gregory's Girl is actually one of my favorite movies of all time, ever, a sweet '80s coming of age movie by the director of Local Hero. I highly recommend it. And that thumbnail is truly terrible (but not totally inaccurate, as it is about a nerdy boy crushing on a very pretty girl).

In all fairness, Gregory's Girl is a pretty sweet movie.

They literally had binders full of women that they asked to speak.

Are you implying the runner-up should feel worse for herself that she lost to a transgendered woman than if she lost to a physically biological woman? Because that's kind of completely 100% bullshit.
