Either the $500M number came straight from the UAW, or this analyst used to work for the RIAA doing calculations on how much money illegal downloads were costing music labels.  One download=one lost sale.  One unbuilt car=one lost sale.  Both wrong.

The strike has cost GM output of more than 8,000 vehicles a day, according to analysts at IHS Markit. With each vehicle averaging about $8,000 in earnings before interest and taxes, and the walkout affecting nearly nine production days, GM has missed out on as much as $544 million in profit, based on calculations

“I think that is a pretty clear sign that there’s no longer an appetite—or a mass market appetite—for nation-on-nation giant robot fights,”

The revelation that the fight was staged and edited together from multiple bouts detracted from the company’s ability to enjoy its victory.

Is your ill-informed screed over? It is? Okay, good.

Because not everyone needs the utility of the second set of doors. In the case of the Prado, you lose wheelbase and overall length along with the doors, improving maneuverability if you go off road. It’s why Jeep still makes the 2 door Wrangler. Then we have looks, do you think a 3 series looks better than a 4

My guess is that they will leave it 2.4 NA, as least in the standard trim. Subaru spends a lot of effort pushing its brand in motorsports and to have a 2.4 Turbo as standard would disqualify the car from competing in production class stage rally. As of the 2019 ARA rule book, the limits are 2.5L NA and 1.6L turbo for

This time, a Land Rover rep asked me what I was doing, and told me to stop, lest someone trip over me.

To be clear, I personally think it’s, in some ways, a bit lame. But that’s just the hardcore off-roader in me. The logical person in me (who, surprisingly, made an appearance for this article) says “It fills a hole in the lineup, it looks good, it’ll sell, people don’t go off-road anyway, etc etc.”

I am so glad we’ve got a nerd on the inside David. Taking the pictures and answering the questions the crazies among us would take were we there.

Did you actually read the first sentence or just the headline?

I agree with everything you’ve said.

An incompetent UAW worker? Well I never.

Watching the video, the acceleration out of corners is crazy impressive. That’s clearly where it’s making all the time vs. the record holders. With the normal chassis and suspension, there’s no way it’s staying that flat.

Tesla: “WE’RE GONNA SET THE LAP RECORD AT THE NURBURGRING”

Of course, they used a truly one-off Model S equipped with “Plaid powertrain” (triple motor, so P150T?) and a prototype chassis...

Both the CTS-V and Project 8 have SIGNIFICANTLY higher top speed than a Model S, and a track that allows you to drive for literally miles at top speed, that extra 40MPH, makes a huge difference, both have top speeds over 200MPH. Galgenkopf-Döttinger Höhe-to the finish is about 2 miles all by itself.

Also, Laguna is a pretty tight, short track that I’d think would favor AWD cars - the 911 4S beats the S by a tenth of a second. Average speeds are about 10mph faster at the ‘ring.

The current production 4 door record is the Project 8 at 1:37.5. Then the CTS-V at 1:38.5

Randy Pobst did a lap in 1:38.52 in a mk3 CTS-V, so they’re still a while off that pace too.
