If you want a car that can do everything reasonably competently, be pretty fun doing it, with a manual transmission and awd, the wrx is really your only option for the price range. Golf R, GR Corolla, Audi S3 etc are much more expensive, everything else in the range is 2wd (GTI, Veloster N, Civic SI)

I (and anybody) can already take zoom calls in my car through regular old carplay, including while driving. Works great. It even is smart enough to give you the mute/unmute button handy in the split view with navigation.

They could be had with a V8 and AWD which is a pretty rare combination in a wagon. I seriously took a look into them when I needed a new daily, and if the interior wasn’t so horrendous I may have gotten one instead of the Audi A3 VR6 quattro I ended up with.

I mean, customization is great but only if we get a wide range of options of bodies and engines to start with. If we just have the option of putting a handful of common rally car engines in a handful of existing rally car bodies...it’s not really going to give that mad scientist feel.

Mine would be a DeTomaso Pantera. Preferably a GT5 model. They look absolutely amazing, but were already kind of a mishmash of parts mechanically so I wouldn’t feel bad about replacing the old engine, suspension, and braking components with modern hardware the way I would an old Ferrari or Lambo.

I’m sure the fact that the C5 intakes all its air from *under* the front bumper works perfectly offroad and doesn’t cause any issues on dirt, gravel, or when going through water.

Some old bikes don’t work that way. My ‘84 Honda just had a switch you could put in one of three positions, left center or right. Center was off, no ability to push it in to cancel.

I think many cars have had that feature since at least the mid-00's. I know both my 07 Audi A3 and my 09 Corvette had it.
