Honestly, if this were just a manufacturer claim and not an SAE power number I would probably believe that too. But the SAE power number shouldn’t allow more than 2% variance below OR above the certified number when measured in accordance with their test, so it shouldn’t be possible for GM to completely misrepresent

Neither the Carrera S or the GT350 are an SAE certified power figure, they are just a manufacturer claimed number. If anything that just shows Ford and Porsche are more optimistic in their rankings than the SAE certified numbers. Again, I’d be inclined to believe that the SAE certification process gives a lower result

I’m still going with test conditions myself. As far as I know they haven’t tested another SAE certified car on that dyno to compare to, otherwise why wouldn’t they have mentioned it in the article (they only give a non-SAE certified pickup as a reference)? I’m inclined to believe that if they tossed a C7 on that same

Yep, definitely. If they had tested a C7 side by side with the C8 and the C7 *didn’t* read higher than rated, then we’d have a story.

Or, OR, and bear with me here:

We haven’t seen an LT1 on this dyno, have we? I’d be very interested to see the numbers for that. I’d expect that it also gives much higher numbers than the SAE rating on the MT dyno.

It is FAR more plausible to me that MT’s testing provides consistently higher numbers than the SAE tests than that the LT2 is magically

I’d be more inclined to believe that the LT4 would ALSO make far more than its SAE certified 650hp on MotorTrend’s dyno. It seems more reasonable to me to believe that the SAE rating gives a relatively low number compared to MotorTrend’s testing, as the only vehicles they have tested to compare do not have an SAE

A few thoughts.

I CAN imagine Ford dropping the Voodoo into a Fusion. That’s what dreams are made of.

So much GRILL! Why does the front have to be so tall? It makes it look disproportionate to me.

There’s a whole bunch of these lyrics that don’t scan with the originals.
Original syllable count:
7,8,8,8,11,3,7
The commented version:
8,8,8,9,9,3,9

The only lines that match are the ones that are exactly the same words as the original!

The voodoo is literally the ONLY flat plane V8 that I enjoy the sound of as much as a cross-plane. I don’t know what exhaust trickery they did to it to get that roar from it, but it sounds damn good. Sorta reminds me of a cross plane with a bundle of snakes exhaust like the GT40.

If only the new C8.R’s flat plane

Still V8, yes, but now flat plane vs cross plane. The cross plane V8 sound has been the signature of the corvette race cars forever. The flat plane sound is significantly different and (in my opinion) much less enjoyable.

I’m going to be very sad to lose the Corvette racing V8 sound. It was special and amazing.

I can see the ease of use argument. When I had a vette with the targa I very seldom took the top off because:

GM isn’t losing $25M per day. The cars the striking factories aren’t building would be worth $25M per day if they were selling immediately.

The rear reminds me a bit of the Lamborghini Veneno with that wing and big diffuser

Hate to break it to you, but the car handles that too, Porsches with manual transmissions have had an auto hill hold for a while now.

Agreed - I cannot stand Mr. Regular’s inane rambling and was disappointed to see that’s all this was.
