Written English yes, not spoken - I lived in Tokyo and went to highschool there. Getting more than a few English words out of the average Japanese person is rare.

Agree she definitely was valid in being angry but using homophobic language, and also even in her retelling using the phrase “...how low on the totem pole you may be...” is pretty terrible as well...
You realise that most of the world pays more than $5/gallon right?
As an ex-PI, my favourite systems are the key card doors that have a motion detector on the inside to unlock it as you walk up to exit. Piece of paper slipped under the door can trigger it and voila, you’re inside.
The extra RAM and HDD space - also LTE capabilities. We can hear you now.

Doesn't matter if the tower has been fried. Also @Robblecda - landlines would also go down if hit by a large enough EMP - the entire copper network is run via voip in North America now. Doesn't matter if the copper from your house to the switch is fine, if the gear at the switch is fried.
You, are an idiot. EMPs are not theoretical, they're easily tested and you can build an EMP generator using an old disposable camera. Look up the Carrington Event from 1859 - an EMP is an Electro-Magnetic Pulse, and is essentially the same as a solar flare (read: CME - Coronal Mass Ejection)
Yay Elspeth! She'sa my furend :D
BTGuard - multiple servers, $80/year, no logs at all, anonymous IPs - they're awesome.
Company I worked for bought a load of 256GB USB thumb drives off of AliBaba, turns out they were 1GB sticks. The way this works, is that the chip thinks it's 256GB, but the actual NAND storage is only 1GB, so it overwrites itself thinking it has more room.

So wait, threaded comments? o_O Somebody call Y2K...
Funny thing is - they're using px vs pt - huge difference. When I render the page with 14pt instead of 14px - it's almost twice as big :P
I just got a set of Keramikos Ceramic knives - these are seriously the best knives I've ever used. No cell tearing when slicing through produce or meat, no oxidization when cutting/peeling apples - and lifetime warranty/free sharpening for life.
It's actually due to the angle/exposure of the light - there are the same amount of particles, but if you look at the rover components in the top picture, it is darker (less exposed) than the bottom picture.
