Well, I don't think it particularly implies anything except that you don't consider the person to be worthy of respect . It is just something that you are taught not to do from your childhood.

Just wanted to point out that in my native Nepali culture( and most probably in other Hindu cultures as well), taking something with a single hand instead of both hands is a grave disrespect to the giver. Taking with left hand is considered even worse than with the right only.
