I’m hoping that this is all cyclical. Consolidation leads to crap games which leads to independent studios with great games which leads to another round of consolidation.

It all feels kind of watered down, safe, and PG. I love comics, so after watching all my action figures fight it out in Endgame, I could walk away satisfied. I loved the Marvel Netflix shows for trying to be different with violence and sex. Disney is pretty clear that they’re not ever going to let that happen again. 

Don’t despair. Every year it seems, independents outdo anything coming out of the consolidated studios: Death’s Door, Hades, Celeste, Hollow Knight. Plus there’s still some big studios that care about the game above all things like Rockstar, and Valve, even though they only seem to finish a game once every 5 years now.

Even though it’s a publicly traded company, this all makes Nintendo look like an independent developer who makes boutique games. They really are the last man with any integrity, standing. You know that someone like Disney is licking their lips at all that sweet sweet IP.

You can pursue anti-trust litigation and not see a decision within a decade. Then, even if the feds win, the penalty these companies pay, is literally cream off the sundae.

You know the Patriot Front are all feds right? When have you ever seen that many fit and color coordinated right wing nuts? Right and left protest groups are full of snitches and agent provocateurs. This is literally history repeating itself.
