Going back to time when the renovations were proposed to the residents the primary reason for the cladding was to improve thermal performance. It is called thermal cladding after all. The cheaper cladding was decided to be used by the council, not a middleman, as a way to save a quarter of a million pounds.

Actually the paycut came because they switched us from salary + day rate to straight hourly. Someone in HR either didn’t realize how much we work or couldn’t do math properly because all of a sudden we were making twice what we used to.
