You’d still have to get a super license, which means being fast enough to beat a bunch of kids who aren’t quite fast enough for F1.  The fact Latifi and Mazepin qualified for a superlicense means it is kind of a joke, but it also means they’re not the worst drivers in the world.  Just the worst drivers in F1.

Fair enough.  Last year was an officiating disaster throughout the entire year, so by the point Abu Dhabi came around I guess I wasn’t surprised by anything anymore.  As someone without any strong alliances but a bit of an underdog lean, I thoroughly enjoyed the season and the final race, but I completely understand

Those grapes are still sour, eh? Last year’s championship could have gone any number of ways throughout the season. For it to have ended any differently than it did would not have been in keeping with the insanity that had already occurred throughout the year.

Owen is British.  Anybody who doesn’t bow to Hamilton’s greatness is automatically hated.  Hamilton stans are kind of like MAGA stans, only Hamilton has actually accomplished something to deserve it.

Lando is doing much, much better in every single metric.  That’s why they want to replace Ricciardo in the first place.  If they were comparably terrible this wouldn’t even be a discussion.

Back in college we were once able to fit 5 people in a Mitsubishi Eclipse for a short (yet still way too long) drive.  Were I to attempt that at my current age they’d need the jaws of life to extract my paraplegic semi-corpse from the vehicle.

I would guess his Indycar schedule may have precluded him flying to Europe to drive in practices.

Usually zero.  That said, they only tolerate Canadians who pay their own way.  It’s almost like there aren’t any talented American drivers willing to pay to drive instead of getting paid to drive in any of the existing American series.

Assuming equal finishes, F2 drivers get far more points than Indycar. Actually, even F3 grants more points than Indycar from 4th place down.

F2. Not F1.

Haha, what?  Are you seriously arguing that the competition level in F3 is higher than in Indycar?

Two problems. First, there’s no refueling in F1, so they can’t add laps or some cars will run out of fuel.

So at this point is Austin the friendliest F1 track? It seems like any track in Europe, especially if it is the home of a particular manufacturer or driver, is a horrible place to go if you’re not a fan of the home team.

They said from 122 to 130.

I don’t think you read the article at all.  The police estimated she was going 90, but her car’s telemetry said it was actually 130mph.  She was already going 122 when she floored it for 5 seconds to get up to 130mph at impact.

A quick search turns up up plenty of results saying scientists believe they discovered its purpose a few years ago. It apparently serves as storage for beneficial microbes in your gut.

Just copy and paste the link.

It’s ugly. I’m going to need to see some CFD proof on functionality before I decide if it’s cool or not. I’m having trouble determining the point of the two tail fins that look like supports for a wing that isn’t there.

I’ve never really understood why so many people are so obsessed with Alonso, but this “I’m sorry you have such thin skin” apology is starting to make me see the light.

Lowering the cost cap increases the risks associated with crashing the car.  Any damage has to be paid for out of the budget cap, leaving less money for development.  Haas is already in financial trouble this year due to the amount of money they’ve had to spend on new cars for Schumacher, although I  don’t think
