Actually, the book "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire, and its sequels, was based on the original stories by L. Frank Baum, and NOT the 1939 movie starring Judy Garland. Most of these are "challenges" - which is when a patron requests that a book be removed due to the content. If the book is removed, due to the content, after a challenge is placed, then that book is considered "banned" by that library. The government never bans a book, due to the 1st amendment.
